The day is finally upon us!! It’s Christmas time!! The past year has been a blur, flying by, and now we’re heading straight into 2010!! Big thing lined up for myself and Ghost Industries, and I will see you all in the New Year!!
Aw yeah! Tomorrow night I’ll be bringing some heat into El Bar for Atlanta Dubstep’s monthly showcase Sub.traction!! Ever since the dub crew started this night early 2009 every month has been rammed and full of the freshest beats. The Atl Dub boys are wicked djs and producers, and their guests are no less amazing. So far the likes of 12th Planet, Noah D, Joe Nice, 2562, Ramadanman, Appleblim, and other high-profile artists have performed for the collective, and all the shows are always so well-received by the public. And tomorrow is my turn!! Being asked to play Sub.traction is somewhat of a personal milestone for me. I feel like this validates antiMatter as a real contender in the city to perform at the most intimate event in town.
I’ve got some serious dubz for this too! New unreleased material from Zeno, Dirty Circuit Records, Downlink, Richie August, Betamorph Recordings, Distal, and some of my own productions as well, forthcoming on Foulplay Dubstep!
Get a taste of what’s to come tonight on Defl0 Radio at defl0.com. I’ll be test-driving these nu tracks for the first time.
Want more? Dig my dubstep mixes Devil’s Night 2009 and Dancers In The Dark.
Come out to Beleza in Midtown Atlanta tonight for a healthy dose of some damn fine house music. I’ll be spinning all manner of deep, funky, and vocal house alongside very special guest dj Dividends of Washington, D.C. Beleza offers the best of the city, featuring Chef Ken Bouche and Adam Waller redefining health food with combinations of fish, grains, fruits, and vegetables, a variety of Brazilian-inspired cocktails, plus a great selection of craft beers and organic wines. Prime Midtown location, valet parking, free entry, and the best mojitos in town make Beleza the place to get in the groove for the coming weekend.
See you all there!

INDUSTRY-LEADING TURNTABLE MANUFACTURER TECHNICS TO STOP PRODUCTION OF DANCE MUSIC STAPLE.
WTF? I know that the digital revolution has taken the dj industry by storm, but can it really be true that analog decks like the infamous Technic 1200 and 1210’s have become “outdated.” Many of the world’s leading dj’s, including Armand Van Helden, Sasha, and Tiesto, have converted to digital media, but can it be so that the rest of us also prefer cdjs and laptops over classic analog decks and vinyl records?
I, for one, have three Technics and one single Pioneer cdj200 (which I am selling, btw. $200. Holla.) For me, instead of having countless unlabeled discs strewn about the studio and boxes and crates of heavy records, I prefer to use Serato technology to dj – with turntables instead of cdjs. In my opinion, Serato is thus far the best medium for storing and performing with your music and although Serato is compatible with cdjs (and I thoroughly enjoy spinning on the excellent Pioneer CDJ1000) I much prefer the sound/feel of old skool turntables.
Needless to say, if this news about the death of an icon is true and not some rampant rumor, my decks are here to stay. If I ever thought about selling them before, they are now mine to keep forever. I hope that vinyl records as a whole don’t go away either. Still, I look to the future and say, Bring on the nu nu shit thats gon revolutionise the dj even further and put us closer than ever to the micro-edit, reworking the music as much as possible to really make our performances our individual and unique.

Things started off fairly well last Saturday. The sun had set and the evening was going great. I met with some friends and went down to Blue Frog Cantina in East Atlanta to dig Quad Control and co’s Atlanta Bass Wars night. The place was rammed, and I was really feelin’ the old skool jungle vibes blasting from the system. I even had to politely reject a lady at the bar by telling her that I was not single and def had someone at home. It was a good laugh, nonetheless, until we decided to try to get over to an after-hours elsewhere in the city.
That’s when the trouble started.
After finding that the group of people we were looking to meet up with where not there yet, the doorman insisted that we leave the parking lot, and as I tried to get my Jeep moving, albeit hastily and fairly frustrated at the fact that it would not idle but instead turn off completely if I did not give it any gas, I threw the bitch in gear and BAM!! My drive shaft fell right out from underneath the m**F****.
To make a long shory stort, we took a cab 20 miles out of the city, I slept on the floor, and woke up seriously hungover. I made arrangements to have my vehicle towed 2 miles from the corner of Juniper and North Ave in Midtown over to a service station at Ponce and Moreland. It would have to wait until Monday. So it is, and now I’m waiting on a rental car to come pick me up from home so that I can sort everything out and get back in the mode for Thanksgiving.
Safe driving everyone, and make sure you’re cars and trucks are in top shape before you take a trip this holiday weekend.

The boys (and girls) of Fuze are closing in on 2 years of holding it down at The Masquerade. Always coming correct with strong talent twice a month, Fuze has done very well in Atlanta, hosting the likes of Dylan, Gein, Richard Devine, Dioptrics, Vicious Circle, and others, Friday night’s show promises to be a banger!
After much time away from the scene in the city, the “godfather of Atlanta drum & bass” returns to perform an exclusive set with one of the world’s top MCs, Armanni Reign. The rest of the line-up is sure to represent proper with Rel-1 + Kryptonite rocking breaks/electro, Kujo + Nano spinning drum & bass, and Jeremy + Quad Control rattling the rafters of the Masquerade with their bass-heavy dubstep riddims.
Big Up Derek Kujo, Jesse Rel-1, and the rest of the Fuze camp!!
